Daniel Aduku Succumbs To Brandon Quarles Via Decision After Gallant Effort On Davis Promotions Card

It was an exciting night of boxing at the Entertainment And Sports Arena, Washington DC on Saturday, August 3rd.

The bill dubbed "Strap Season " was promoted by Eric Davis of the Davis Boxing Promotions and duly sanctioned by the District Of Columbia Combat Sports Commission.

In an international Super Middleweight contest on the night, former Ghanaian National champion Daniel " No Size " Aduku encountered Alexandria, Virginia native Brandon Quarles.

Aduku, who captured the Ghana Middleweight title in December 2018; upsetting favourite Emmanuel Quaye, got into the groove right from the opening bell.

Currently fighting out of Columbus, Ohio, Aduku began throwing and landing his signature overhead rights, but Quarles did well to hold his own despite the initial onslaught from his foe.

In a bout that was largely fought on the inside, Quarles committed to working on Aduku's body - a move that yielded dividends, as he scored a knockdown in round four.

Aduku beat the count and the bout resumed with Brandon nicknamed " Bulldog" unrelenting in his body attack.

Aduku had to resort to holding and in the fifth was penalised by the referee: losing a point.

Sensing that he was trailing on the cards, Aduku threw caution to the wind going into the sixth and final round.

The 35 year old came in firing from all cylinders with renewed gusto. But Quarles seemed prepared for this, and also increased his punch output; winning a highly confrontational final round.

The official scores were unanimous and identical: 59-53 for Brandon Quarles whose tally rises to 25-5-1, 11Kos whiles Aduku dips to 15-6-1, 11Kos.

Having returned with an impressive win after over a year's layoff, Brandon Quarles would look to stay active and land a big one.

On his part, the hard-hitting Aduku was displeased with the verdict :" I had two low blows in rounds 1 and 2 respectively that were not counted against my opponent and that got me angry. So I went all out giving him some bloody lip and nose. I know home turf played a part in the decision", he asserted.

It's unclear what Aduku's agent Adae Opoku Amoako has for him going forward. A good tune up to get him back to winning ways wouldn't be a bad idea.

Promoter Eric Davis was highly elated with the outcome of the eight bout card and promised yet another delectable fight night soon.
